Refund Policy

This policy covers refunds for three types of payments on BuyCar: buyer security deposits, spare parts orders, and dealer membership subscriptions. Please read carefully before making a payment.
1. Buyer Security Deposit (₦50,000)
When you submit a ₦50,000 security deposit to express interest in a car listing, the following refund terms apply:
Full Refund (100%)
- The dealer confirms the car is no longer available
- The car condition materially differs from the listing (documented)
- BuyCar is unable to release dealer contact details within 48 hours of payment
- You withdraw your interest before dealer contact details are released
Partial Refund (50%)
- You withdraw your interest after dealer contact details have been released to you
No Refund
- You completed a car inspection and chose not to proceed (change of mind)
- You provided false information in your deposit request
Processing time: Approved refunds are returned to your original payment method within 5–10 business days.
2. Spare Parts Orders
Spare parts are fulfilled by individual dealers. Our returns policy follows standard Nigerian consumer protection principles.
Returns accepted within 7 days of delivery if:
- The item received is not as described (wrong part, wrong specification)
- The item is damaged or defective on arrival
- The item is counterfeit or not genuine as advertised
Returns not accepted if:
- The item has been installed or used
- The item was a custom or special order
- The return request is made more than 7 days after delivery
- The item was accurately described and you changed your mind
How to initiate a return: Email support@buycar.ng with your order number, a description of the issue, and photos. We'll co-ordinate with the dealer and respond within 48 hours.
Refund method: Approved returns are refunded to your original payment method within 7 business days after the item is received back by the dealer.
3. Dealer Membership Subscriptions
Dealer membership fees (Basic, Premium, Elite) are charged monthly or annually.
- Subscriptions are non-refundable once activated and your dashboard is accessible.
- If you cancel, you retain access until the end of your billing period — we do not pro-rate partial months.
- If we fail to provide the agreed service (e.g., dashboard inaccessible for more than 48 consecutive hours due to our fault), you are entitled to a pro-rated credit for the downtime period.
4. How to Request a Refund
Email support@buycar.ng with:
- Your full name and registered email address
- The payment reference or order number
- The reason for your refund request
- Supporting evidence where relevant (photos, screenshots)
We acknowledge all refund requests within 24 hours and make a decision within 5 business days.
5. Disputes
If you're dissatisfied with our refund decision, you may escalate to your bank (chargeback) or contact the Consumer Protection Council of Nigeria. We are committed to resolving all disputes fairly.
